I offer two types of family photography in Hertfordshire: outdoors in the beautiful local countryside; or in the comfort of your own home.
When deciding which to choose, you should consider what you would love to see hanging on your wall - sunlight, tree climbing and running through the grass; or cosy, quiet moments, playing by window light, running around the garden and (dare I say it) jumping on the bed. Of course, this often depends on the age and make-up of your family - those with a newborn may like to stay in the comfort of their home; boisterous children might need more fresh air; a couple with their dog may want open fields.
Firstly, I get to know you a little - I want to capture the real essence of your family, so I chat with you and send you a questionnaire to help me to do that. We choose a location together, depending on your preferences, and I have lots of lovely places that I like to use all the time, with new and returning clients alike.
When we meet, I generally chat and play with the children first. Partly this is because children are brilliant and I can't help it, but mostly it is to get them relaxed around me and the camera. There are likely to be lots of silly jokes and games and mischievous behaviour!
After the session comes my favourite part: the editing, where I choose the very best of your photographs, enhance the colours and sharpen the image to make them perfect. I also apply my own signature style at this stage, and make other adjustments like removing distracting elements (digitally wiping knees and noses!) and generally making sure that everyone looks their best.
Finally, I upload your pictures to your own private online gallery so that you can choose the package that you would like to purchase. At the end of this page, you'll see much more of my portfolio to help you to decide if I'm the photographer for you.
