As a Christening photographer in Hitchin and the surrounding towns, I may have been just a *bit* excited when I got the call to ask if I would photograph this christening. St Mary’s is an absolutely stunning church, with lots of history. It really felt like a privilege to be able to photograph there.
We were lucky that a wedding had taken place the day before, so the font was decorated with a beautiful floral display.
The christening was held during the very hot, bright week that we had in June. It did not make for a happy baby, but it did create some beautiful pools of light within the church. However, the heat did require lots of fanning with the order of service to try to keep the little one cool. It’s hard being a baby at the best of times! But intense heat and then some chap pouring water over your face can be a lot to contend with 😀 She did brilliantly though, and it only took a little nap during the reception for her to get back to her normal self and smile and play.
