This time of year quickly gets busy with christening photography in Welwyn Garden City, as families take advantage of the weather to host parties!
Last month I was treated to a beautiful christening at St. Bonaventure’s Church in Welwyn Garden City. The church was the first to be built when the town was created so holds great historical significance. Baptisms here are led by the lovely Fr. Norbert. I have now photographed a couple of his ceremonies, and I always enjoy his friendly services and the way that he engages the children in the congregation.

This christening in Welwyn Garden City was for a gorgeous 6 months old. She watched the proceedings with wonder and did not even bat an eyelid when the water was poured over her head! In fact, it was all her mother could do to stop her diving head first into the font!

After the ceremony, guests made their way to The Red Lion in Welwyn. The function room is a good space for a small group, with a separate space for serving food. There is also a small patio space for between the rain showers!

We were lucky that the rain did hold off just long enough for us to get some beautiful portraits outside. Christenings are a great opportunity to get portraits; it is not often that whole families are brought together.

Are you planning a christening in or around Welwyn Garden City? I photograph christenings in Welwyn, Stevenage, Hitchin and the surrounding areas and they are (not-so-secretly) one of my favourite types of job. All that happiness and laughter, AND a sweet baby thrown in for good measure!
